Introduction to Asheville

Asheville is located near the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains. It is the largest city in Western North Carolina and the tenth largest municipality in the North Carolina with a population estimated of more than 70,000 people. It sits at 2,216 feet above sea and covers an area of 41 square miles. It is located at the confluence of the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers in a river-formed valley that runs 18 miles north and south.
